Sousse Medina, Ribat & Monastir Tours

El Jem is about 65 km away, roughly 50 minutes by car, and Kairouan about 56 km. Most of the day trips we list take 8 to 10 hours, with hotel pickup in Sousse, Port El Kantaoui or Monastir, so you can see both in a day without rushing. The El Jem amphitheatre alone fits into a half-day tour. Tunis is about 144 km away, which is a very long day trip.

Not as a day trip. Sousse has no desert of its own, and all 8 Sahara tours on our list last two or three days, from €94. They usually include Douz, Tozeur or Matmata and mostly a night in a desert camp. Many of them start in Tunis or Hammamet and collect guests in Sousse on the way, so check the pickup time on the booking page.

Swimming season runs roughly from June to September. The sea is around 25 to 27 °C in July and August, and August is the warmest month. In summer it is hot and dry, which suits the beach but not a long day trip to El Jem or Kairouan in the midday heat, so choose an early start. We do not hold more detailed monthly figures in our data.

Monastir is the closer one, about 14 km from Sousse. Enfidha is about 48 km away, more than 40 minutes by road. If your flight allows a choice, Monastir usually means the shorter transfer. Many tours collect at the hotel, so you do not need a rental car for the excursions we list.
