No other Sahara tour in the Sousse listings comes close on reviews. It is also an exhausting trip, because the desert is a long way from the coast.

Douz, the gateway to the dunes, lies more than 400 km from Sousse by road, over four hours of driving each way. The Sahara tours are a bad idea for small children, for anyone who gets carsick easily, and for anyone who wants to be back on the beach by the evening. Summer temperatures in the south are very high, and nights in the desert can be cold in winter, so the comfort of the camp matters more in some months than others. If you only have one free day, the El Jem and Kairouan day trip shows you part of the same country without an overnight stay.
