Pirate Boat Trip from Sousse with Children: What the Listing Promises
Updated October 22, 2026 · 4 min read
A pirate boat is a fair family outing if your children want a show and a swim, but the evidence is thin: the pirate cruise from Sousse costs €27.84 per person and is rated 4.5 from just 6 reviews. That score is a hint, not a verdict. Read the newest reviews on the booking page before you commit a family to it.
What the listing describes
The short description promises a pirate cruise with a live pirate show, a swim in open water, a look-out for wild dolphins and a fresh fish lunch, with round-trip hotel transfers included. It says the cruise lasts 3 hours, while the duration field gives 4 to 5 hours. The listing does not say how the two figures fit together. Transfers may explain the difference, but that is a guess, so check the pickup time and the return time on the booking page, especially with young children.
There is a second listing for a pirate boat tour from Monastir at the same price. It has no reviews yet, and its description speaks of a 4-hour cruise instead of 3. Everything else is word for word the same, which suggests the same product sold under two names. Ask before you book which departure point and which boat you get. A third pirate cruise from Sousse costs €24, runs 4 hours and lists a light lunch on board; it has no reviews either.
Pirate cruise or ordinary show cruise
| Tour | Duration | From | Rating | What is described |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pirate boat tour with live show and lunch | 4 to 5 hours | €27.84 | 4.5 from 6 reviews | Live pirate show, swim, dolphin look-out, fish lunch, hotel transfers |
| Boat cruise with live show, swim and pickup | 3 hours | €39 | 4.6 from 40 reviews | Swim stop in open sea, a meal, live entertainment, hotel pickup and drop-off |
All prices are per person. The second cruise does not call itself a pirate trip, although its listing photo shows a wooden ship with masts. It costs €11.16 more, but it has far more reviews behind its score, and it is shorter. For a family with a small child the shorter day may be worth more than the saving.

What the descriptions leave out
Neither listing states a minimum age, whether life jackets in children’s sizes are on board, how much shade there is, whether there is a toilet, or how many passengers come aboard. The show itself is not described either, so you cannot tell how loud or long it is. The swim in open water raises its own questions: how do people get into the sea from a large ship, and is there supervision for children? All of this is on the booking page or has to be asked of the operator before you pay.
The dolphin part is worded as “look for”, not as “see”. Treat any dolphin as a bonus. Our catamaran guide explains what the shorter cruises offer if dolphins are your main goal.
When to skip it
Skip it with a baby or a child who is easily frightened by noise or by being at sea for several hours, and with anyone prone to seasickness. For those families, the two-hour catamaran cruise is the gentler format. If you want a day on a ship with no show at all, the boat trips in Sousse page lists the rest.
Our recommendation
- For children who want the pirate theme: the pirate cruise, after confirming departure time, return time and what is on board.
- For a more cautious family choice: the show cruise with 40 reviews.
- For the youngest travellers: a shorter catamaran cruise, or something on land. More family ideas are in Sousse with kids.
